Juneau, Alaska – In accordance with state statute, Governor Sean Parnell today transmitted program and financial information prepared by state agencies to Governor-elect Bill Walker. These documents will assist in providing an orderly transition for the new administration.
The state budget for the current fiscal year (FY 2015), plus increases related to bargaining unit agreements and the retirement system pension payment, results in a starting point for budget discussions of over $6.2 billion. The FY 2016 governor’s budget proposal is due to the public and the Legislature by December 15. Governor Parnell intends to turn over a recommended FY 2016 budget proposal with hundreds of millions of dollars of proposed reductions on December 1 as a starting point for the Walker-Mallott administration.
