Troopers report that they re-apprehended an Anvik man who escaped custody on Saturday and fled to Grayling.

The VPSO in Anvik  had received a complaint of a person driving under the influence on New Years Day at 3:25 pm. The VPSO responded to the scene and his investigation revealed that 27-year-old Arthur Solomon of Anvik had been driving his Polaris 700 XC Snow machine while under the influence of alcohol.

Solomon was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, but was unable to complete it, and so was placed under arrest for DUI. It was also found at that time, that Solomon was driving while his driving privileges were revoked, and so was charged with that offense as well.

Solomon was taken to the  the temporary holding facility in Anvik and held there pending transport to Bethel YKCC. But, Solomon’s stay there was short-lived and he escaped the VPSO’s custody and fled to Grayling via snow machine.

As a result of his escape, an arrest warrant was issued for Solomon and troopers requested information on his whereabouts.

Solomon was located in Grayling when troopers returned there on Saturday. He was located at a local residence there. When recaptured without incident, it was found that Solomon still had the handcuffs placed on him last week still on one of his wrists.

Solomon was transported to Bethel where he was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
