An investigation by Mat-Su Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit and the Special Crimes Investigation Unit in Anchorage led to the arrest of an Anchorage woman allegedly on her way to the Goose Creek Correctional Center with a large quantity of drugs on Wednesday.
With information from their investigation, Drug Enforcement and Special Crimes units, identified 25-year-old Gwendoline Maka as a conspirator in a plot to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into the correctional facility in Wasilla, and apprehended her on her way to the facility troopers report.
When contacted, investigators with the units would find that Maka had in her possession 26.32 grams of heroin and 8 grams of methamphetamine. Maka was en route to visit with an inmate that was currently incarcerated at the facility.
Troopers arrested Maka on charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II, III, and IV, as well as Promoting Contraband.
Maka was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer, where she was remanded with her bail set at $25,000 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
Investigators estimate the street value of the drugs in Maka’s possession to be approximately $9,400.
The investigation into the drug conspiracy is continuing.
