A Saturday avalanche east of the Summit Lake area of Hatcher Pass Road took the life of a 25-year-old Anchorage resident who was snowboarding in the area at the time of the incident, it was reported in the trooper dispatch.
A call went into the Alaska State troopers at 2:16 PM on Saturday notifying them of an avalanche in the polymer area and also reported that a snowboarder had fallen victim and was buried.
“Alaska State Park Rangers responded to the scene and the victim was located and removed from under approximately 6 to 8 feet of snow,” troopers reported. After recovering the victim, Warren Carlyle, of Anchorage, he was taken to the Hatcher Pass Lodge, where life-saving measures were attempted that were ultimately unsuccessful.
Carlyle’s next of kin were notified and the State Medical Examiner’s office responded and took possession of his remains for autopsy.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
