Two Wasilla individuals are behind bars after fleeing a traffic stop near Wasilla on Saturday afternoon, troopers reported this weekend.
Troopers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Lowell Thompson IV of Wasilla, after he drove through a red light almost causing a collision at just after 4 pm on Saturday, but instead of stopping, Thompson sped away from the patrol car.
As troopers continued to stop him, Thompson’s vehicle was disabled, when that occurred, Lowell Thompson and his passenger Areal Thompson fled the scene on foot. Troopers report that they were later apprehended.
Lowell Thompson was charged with Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Peace Officer I, DUI, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Trespass I. At the time of his arrest, it was also found that he had two warrants issued for his arrest for failure to comply with conditions of probation in a Theft II case as well as a Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II case.
Areal Thompson was also arrested on an arrest warrant for failure to comply with conditions of probation in a Theft II case.
Both Thompsons were transported to Palmer where they were remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. Lowell Thompson’s bail was set at $10,000 plus a Court-Approved Third Party Custodian.
