Victim Stabbed in Brother Francis Shelter Courtyard

image15-12-2015-10.45.04A man suffered multiple stab wounds outside of the Brother Francis Shelter during the early morning hours on Tuesday after he intervened in a verbal disturbance the Anchorage police reported on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, at approximately 3 am, a man outside the shelter on east Third Street, near the courtyard was stabbed by a suspect described as a black male, standing approximately six feet tall and wearing a gray sweater, carrying a gray and brown backpack.

The victim told police that the suspect was “cussing and insulting women in the area.” The victim asked the suspect to stop at which time, the suspect told the victim to “Come over here and stop me.” When the victim walked over to the suspect, “the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in several areas of his body.  The suspect left the scene on foot,” investigators said.

A search of the area by police produced negative results. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his wounds.
