The Alaska Volcano Observatory has reported an explosion and a small ash cloud emission from Mount Cleveland on the Aleutian Chain on Friday. The reported ash cloud reached an elevation of 22,000 feet and  is drifting to the southeast according to their report. The seismic activity was registered just before 10 pm on Friday evening.

The recent activity resulted in the volcano’s status being raised to “Orange.”

Additionally, 2.7 magnitude quake has been registered at the location at a depth of 31 miles at 6:02 am Saturday according to the Alaska Earthquake Center.

Designated as a stratovolcano, Mount Cleveland dominates the entire western half of Chuginadak Island and is the largest of the Four Mountains group.
