Helo-3 was dispatched on Sunday to rescue a Soldotna hiker from difficult conditions on the Devil’s Creek trail after that hiker called his father requesting assistance, troopers reported on the trooper dispatch.

A call went in to the troopers at 8:58 am on Sunday from a Soldotna man reporting that his son, 31-year-old Andrew Jefferson, also of Soldotna, who had set out on a hike on the Resurrection Pass starting from the  Hope side on Thursday, was wet, cold, and exhausted and had encountered adverse conditions near Devil’s Creek and was requesting a rescue.

Jefferson was equipped with a Garmin inReach device and was able to supply his father with his GPS location which his father passed on to AST. At 11:05 am, Helo-3 was launched and traveled to the supplied position and located Jefferson. He was lifted and taken to the  Soldotna Airport. Once there, Jefferson declined EMS and reported no injuries.
