A 26-year-old Anchorage woman is in jail on charges of Operating Under the Influence (OUI), Reckless Driving; Leaving the of an Accident and Driving with License Cancelled/Suspended/Revoked after a hit and run involving a pedestrian, APD reports.

Anchorage police were alerted of the hit and run incident in the East 19th and Primrose Place area at 7:30 pm on Sunday night.

The police investigation at the scene revealed that the driver of a maroon 1998 Chrysler Town and Country was eastbound on 19th Avenue and abruptly made a U-turn at Primrose Place. When she was doing so, the female driver hit a female pedestrian and a fence then drove off at high speed.

APD says that the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators would locate the suspect vehicle at an address on the 4400-block of Reka Drive. Soon thereafter, APD would contact 26-year-old Shawna Stephan in an apartment at that same address.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]

Police would administer a field sobriety test and checked the breath alcohol content of the visibly inebriated  Stephan and found her to be three times over the legal limit.

Stephan was taken into custody and transported her to the Anchorage Jail where she was remanded on her charges.
