The Hooper Bay man who authorities and rescue teams have been searching for since February 27th, has been found,
Timothy Seton, left his home in Hooper Bay on February 24th at about 5:30 pm, when he left, he left on foot. No one knew where he was going. When he did not return, the Hooper Bay Police Department did a door-to-door search for Seton. Rescue teams also searched the surrounding area to no avail.
At 12:35 pm, on March 3rd, the Hooper Bay VPSO contacted the Alaska State Troopers in Bethel and informed them that Seton’s body had been located. He was found about three miles outside of the village.
Troopers responded to the village from Bethel after receiving the report. Their initial investigation did not turn up any evidence of foul play. Seton’s remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office to undergo autopsy to determine cause, and next of kin was notified.
Hooper Bay is located on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. It is 20 miles south of Cape Romanzof and 25 miles south of Scammon Bay.
Originally called Askinuk, or Askinaghamiut, Hooper Bay is a large Yupik community of about 1,100 residents.
