Aniak man, Robby Levi, receives a settlement of $75,000 from the state to finish up a case involving alleged excessive force on the part of Alaska State troopers.
The state denies all liability in the case, and said that they paid the money out of financial consideration.
The case goes back to an arrest made by Alaska State troopers in November of 2010. It was then that Alaska State trooper John Holm and a Village Public Safety officer from Aniak took Levi into custody and attempted to transport him to a holding facility by snow machine handcuffed, barefoot and wearing only his underwear.
Attorney David Henderson, lawyer for Levi admits that Levi refused clothing while still in his home, but later changed his mind when he was led outside into the cold. It was then that a digital recording captured Levi asking for clothing.
Holm, the arresting trooper said that Levi kicked off the clothing that the VPSO was attempting to put on him.
It was freezing conditions in the village of Aniak that November.
