Douglas Brown Sr. age 42, died in a snow machine accident yesterday morning on the Selawik River.
According to Alaska State Trooper reports, they received a report at 11:50 am that Brown was driving a Poloris 550 snow machine on the Selawik River when he hit a stick attached to a net in the river.
Brown was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time that he hit the piece of wood. It threw him off of his machine. After which, the snow machine landed on top of Brown.
A Village Health Aide responded and began CPR. Brown was then transported to the Selawik Clinic for further treatment. He was pronounced deceased at the clinic at 12:00.
Brown’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
Brown was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and alcohol is beleived to be a factor in his death.
