Boaters on Matanuska Lake while out on the water, saw an overturned canoe yesterday, July 6th.
When they approached the overturned canoe, they also observed a body floating in the water nearby.

Alaska State Troopers were called at about 10:23 am yesterday morning. When troopers arrived and began their investigation at the scene, they found that a canoe had been rented to 55-year-old Randy Francis of Palmer.
The Mat-Su Dive team responded to the scene and recovered the body from the lake and the man was identified as 70-year-old Michael Francis of Pocatello, Idaho.
Earlier, witnesses had seen the two brothers together in the canoe. It is believed that neither of the men were wearing life-jackets when the incident occurred.
The search is continuing for Randy Francis, next of kin have been notified.
Matanuska Lake was in the news earlier this year, it was the location where the body of Samantha Koenig was found after her disappearance and murder.
