On Saturday evening, a report was made to the Alaska State Troopers of a downed aircraft near the Parks Highway.
According to the trooper report, a DHC-2 DeHavilland made an emergency landing on Saturday evening about five miles south of Summit airfield.

The pilot of the 1966 DeHavilland Beaver put his aircraft down in a marshy area near the highway after losing power to the plane. The aircraft, owned by Fly Alaska, had eight people aboard. The aircraft only suffered minor damage to the tail section in the landing.
Denali Park Rangers were notified of the incident by the troopers and their A-Star helicopter was dispatched to the scene. Another helicopter was also sent to the scene from Era Helicopter, they were called in by the lead pilot of Fly Alaska.
With the two helicopters, the passengers and pilot were flown to the Summit airfield where the passengers were transported back to their accomodations.
Cantwell EMS were at the Summit airfield when the group was delivered to the field. None of the group on the “Flight-seeing” tour reported any injuries.
