Yesterday morning, at about 11:20 am, a resident in Brevig Mission reported to the Brevig Mission's VPSO that human remains had been found on the beach.
The remains had been found about one mile to the east of Brevig Mission along the miles long stretch of beach.

The VPSO relayed this information to the Alaska State Troopers. In response to the call, AST picked up the remains and transported them to Nome.
From Nome, the remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage in an effort to determine the identity.
This long stretch of beach was in the news last fall during the first part of November when Teller resident Kyle Komok was last seen traveling on the spit adjacent to this beach on a yellow ATV during the superstorm that thrashed to coast of Alaska. Teller is five miles to the southeast of Brevig Mission at the other end of the land feature.
