The repeal of Obamacare Act was formally introduced on the House floor today. A rule was approved late today setting out the debate that will likely pass with Republican support.

Five hours of debate are set aside on Tuesday and Wednesday on the floor. H.R. 6079 will get very little Democratic support.

President Obama said in a statement released this evening that if presented with H.R. 6079 , he would veto it.

The statement began by saying, “The Administration strongly opposes House passage of H.R. 6079 because it would cost millions of hard-working middle class families the security of affordable health coverage and care they deserve. It would increase the deficit and detract from the work the Congress needs to do to focus on the economy and create jobs.”

The five hours of debate will be split between the House committees on Education and workforce, energy and commerce,and ways and means for an hour each. The committees on Budget, judiciary and small business will each have a half an hour with the remainder being split between the Majory and Minority House leaders.

The final vote on H.R. 6079 will mostly likely take place late on Wednesday.

The Administration feels that taking up a bill to repeal his Healthcare law is just taking away from other, more important issues, saying, “The last thing the Congress should do is refight old political battles and take a massive step backward by repealing basic protections that provide security for the middle class. Right now, the Congress needs to work together to focus on the economy and creating jobs. Congress should act on the President’s concrete plans to create an economy built to last by reducing the deficit in a balanced way and investing in education, clean energy, innovation, and infrastructure.”
