Alaska State Troopers received a call reporting an assault taking place in a vehicle on the Chena Pump Road on Wednesday night.
Troopers responded to the call at 10:45 pm and saw the vehicle that was described in the report traveling eastbound on the Mitchell Expressway near the Airport Way East exit.
They initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver, identified as 41-year-old Fairbanks resident, Philip Wallis.
When troopers requested Wallis that exit the vehicle, he chose to speed off instead.

Wallis took the troopers on a high-speed chase on Airport Way, reaching 120 mph. During the chase, Wallis ran red lights, as well as swerved into on-coming traffic causing other motorists to dodge his vehicle to avoid a collision. The chase went on for three miles.
It was then that Wallis exited his vehicle in the area of Thomas Street and Wildflower Avenue and fled from the troopers on foot. The troopers gave chase and finally were able to catch and place Wallis under arrest.
Wallis was charged with Failure to Stop at the Direction of an Officer I, Parole Violation, and Driving While License Revoked. He was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and remanded there.
As Wallis was being processed at FCC, he was found to be in the possession of a controlled substance, and subsequently was charged with Promoting Contraband I.
