The Houston woman involved in the head-on collision at mile 66 of the Parks Highway on October 7th, succumbed to the injuries she sustained in that crash at an Anchorage hospital on Sunday October 13th.
Last week, Sunday before last, at 4:33 pm, troopers with the Southcentral Highway Bureau of Highway Patrol, Talkeetna Troopers and a Mat-Su Emergency Services unit responded to a head-on collision that took place on the Parks Highway.
When they arrived at the scene, they found that 55-year-old Leeann Rodgers of Houston had suffered serious injuries after crossing over the center line of the highway in her Toyota Camry and colliding with 75-year-old Ronald Palmer who was traveling the opposite direction in his Volkwagon sedan.

Palmer had attempted to avoid the collision by moving off to the side of the highway but collided with the guard rail, and was unable to move completely out of the way. Palmer suffered minor injuries in the collision. He was transported to the Mat-Su Regional Hospital, treated and released.
Rodgers was also transported to the Mmat-Su Regional Hospital, but was later transported once again to the Anchorage Regional Hospital. It was there that she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, one week after the accident.
Rodger’s family has been notified of her passing, as has the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage.
Alaska State Troopers are continueing the investigation into the case.
