Winds in Wasilla on Wednesday complicated a medevac from the Clear Creek area.
At 6:35 pm on Wednesday, the Alaska State Troopers received a call reporting a male in need of medical assistance in the Clear Creek area, but that the Life-Med helicopter was unable to launch from Wasilla because of weather conditions.
Troopers contacted the initial caller, 63-year-old Talkeetna resident, Judy Price. Price was informed of the unavailability of the Life-Med chopper due to high winds in the Wasilla area. Price related that she believed that her husband, 61-year-old Paul Bratton had suffered a stroke. Price described her location, giving directions to their homestead 15 air miles from Talkeetna twenty miles down the trail from downtown Talkeetna.

Helo One was launched and responded, picking up two medics from Talkeetna airport, and continued on to the homestead to retrieve Bratton.
At 10:15 pm, Helo One, still unable to access Wasilla due to high winds, transported Price, Bratton, and the two medics to Talkeetna. An ambulance picked them up there and transported them to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
EMS reported that Bratton was in stable condition.
