Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell issued the following statement in honor of Veterans Day:
“Every year since World War I, we have taken this day to honor and thank our veterans of military service. In Alaska, we have a lot of people to thank. We’re home to the highest number of veterans per capita in the United States. In Alaska, we stand for freedom, and we are profoundly grateful for all who sacrificed so that we might live freely as a republic and as a people.
“We are deeply thankful for the families of our veterans. When America’s sons and daughters are called to war, their families, too, deserve our support and appreciation. So fly your Stars and Stripes proudly on November 11. Lift up our nation’s veterans in honor, and offer prayers of thanksgiving for them and their families. Happy Veterans Day and thank you for your service.”
