An Anchorage man, 29-year-old Ernest W. Brooks was arrested in Anchorage on November 30th on Driving Under the Influence charges.
That very same day, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle from Palmer. The trooper investigation focussed on Brooks as a suspect in the vehicle theft.
On December 4th, Alaska State Troopers arrested Brooks at the Cordova Center in Anchorage on Vehicle Theft I charges. Their investigation revealed that Brooks had seen the vehicle with keys and running parked in a driveway in Palmer and had stolen it, driving to Anchorage.
Brooks was transported to Mat Su Pretrial in Palmer on the charges, and bail was set at $10,000.
Court records show that Brooks has an extensive criminal history in the state of Alaska. His record is populated with several theft cases as well as a myriad of other criminal charges.
