Early Saturday morning, at approximately 1:40 am, Alaska State Troopers responded to an accident at mile 5 of the Craig-Klawock Highway.
When they arrived at the scene, they discovered a female passenger in the vehicle with injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.
The trooper’s investigation found that as the vehicle was headed southbound on the highway, the driver crossed over the centerline into the oncoming lane and ultimately ended up in the ditch on that side of the roadway.
When the vehicle came to rest in the ditch, the driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
The suspect faces possible charges of Leaving the Scene of a Collision Involving Injury and Reckless Driving.
