The remote area of the western Aleutian Chain was the recipient of a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in the early morning hours on Sunday
Because of the relative remoteness of the arrea, there was no reports of damage or injuries.
The early morning event occurred at 4:48 am at the epicenter. It took place at a depth of 27.3 miles beneath the seafloor about 16 miles to the South-Southwest of Tanaga volcano in an uninhabited portion of the western reaches of the Aleutian Island group to the west of Adak.
