It was announced at a joint news conference held in Sweden by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that the two countries are working toward a solution to end the violence in Syria.
The two said they are very hopeful that peace talks can be held in Geneva in June.

The two officials from Moscow and Washington are working toward getting the Syrian government as well as the opposition to the tables there to work out an end to the two-year-long violence that has plagued the middle eastern country.
But, on a less hopeful note, halfway around the world, in New York, the U.N. General assemby is voting today on a non-binding resolution condemning Syrian authorities and at the same time accepting the opposition movement the Syrian National Coalition as party to a potential political transition.
The resolution will aslo demand that Syria give a United Nations team access to investigate the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Russia opposes the resolution.
