On Saturday late evening, an ATV roll-over placed a North Pole woman in critical condition after the ATV rolled while she was maneuvering the vehicle down a bank to an old forestry road approximately five miles from Quartz CCreek Road.

The rollover that occured near the Quartz Lake Campground injured 31-year-old North Pole resident Carla Converse. She had been riding with a family member when they encountered the bank. The passenger got off of the ATV while Converse attempted to drive down the embankment.
After the accident, the passenger made their way down the embankment and rolled the vehicle off of Converse and was performing CPR when troopers arrived.
EMS responded and transported Converse to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Converse was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
