According to the trooper investigation, Lockuk stepped on his brakes and skidded for 75-feet before hitting the child and continuing over the victim, running him over. The investigation would find that the pickup truck had only one operational brake on one tire. This was initially determined by the single skidmark left on the roadway after the incident.
Lockuk had initially stopped after running down the child but then fled the scene.
The unidentified child was medevaced to Dillingham, and at last report was in stable condition.
Lockuk was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Felony Assault, and Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident. He was transported to Dillingham Correctional Center to await arraignment.
