The man who has been sought by Alaska State Troopers in Unalakleet since August 15th when he was found trespassing in a residence there, has been located and arrested on charges of Criminal Trespass, Burglary, and Misconduct Involving Weapons.
It was on August 15th that the Village Public Safety Officer in Unalakleet contacted an out-of-town resident and informed them that their lights at their home in Unalakleet were on. The homeowner asked the VPSO to go to the residence and turn them off and remove anyone that was at the residence.
When the VPO and VPSO arrived at the home at the homeowner’s request, they found 28-year-old Peter Jackson at the rear of the home intoxicated and armed. After the brief confrontation with Jackson, the two officers left the home and contacted Alaska State Troopers.
Jackson was seen by the two officers as he left the home still armed. Jackson was then seen walking around town.
Later that morning, at approximately 9 am, Jackson was seen again, this time unarmed.
At approximately 1:28 am on August 24th, the Alaska State Troopers were notified that Jackson had been located at a local residence in the village.
When the Village Public Safety Officer and the Village Police Officer responded to the scene in an attempt to locate Jackson, one of the officers was walking to the rear of the residence and accidently stepped on Jackson who was hiding in the grass near an abandoned building.
Jackson was detained and taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Nome where he was remanded to the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.
