Two hunters, one from Palmer and one from Wasilla, were returning from a hunting trip along the Talkeetna River on Wednesday, when their boat capsized dumping them into the water.
The two men, 37-year-old Palmer resident, Robert Miller, and 40-year-old Wasilla resident Willy Rumbo, were traveling down the Talkeetna River when they struck a log and their boat capsized, spilling them into the cold Talkeetna River.
The troopers were notified of the incident at approximately 12:03 pm according to the trooper dispatch. It was reported to the troopers that the two men were stranded on an island along the Talkeetna River, were wet, had no gear and that one of the men had suffered minor injuries.
The troopers responded and located the capsiized boat about ten miles up the river and shortly thereafter, the two men were located on an island nearby.
Miller and Rumbo were transported to the Talkeetna Boat Launch where they were treated and released by EMS.
