On Monday morning, the owner of a 1998 Volvo Station Wagon reported their vehicle stolen to the Alaska State Troopers at 7:26 am. from a residence on Steven Drive in Wasilla.
The caller also informed the authorities that there was approximately $3,000 worth of drum and music equipment in the vehicle when it was stolen overnight.
A few short hours later, a citizen report came in to the troopers reporting an abandoned vehicle on an ATV trail near Ashmore Avenue in Wasilla. That vehicle matched the description of the vehicle reported stolen earlier.
Troopers responded to the area where the vehicle was reported to be at. When they arrived on the scene, they found another vehicle, a silver Chevy Cavalier parked next to the stolen vehicle. The troopers also observed two juveniles, later found to be 16 and 17, transferring the drums and other musical equipment from the stolen Volvo to the Cavalier.
Troopers promptly arrested the two juveniles, at which time, the two were also found to be in possession of marijuana.
The two teens were transported to the Mat-Su Youth Facility where they were remanded into custody.
The stolen Volvo, along with the drums and other musical equipment were returned to the owner.
