While on a routine patrol on Boundary Road outside of Klawock, Klawock Troopers had to dodge on oncoming truck that had crossed over the center-line directly into the path of the patrol car.
After avoviding the 2008 gray Dodge pickup truck that had fishtailed out of control and crossed over into their lane, troopers turned around and stopped the vehicle.
Whern troopers stopped the truck and contacted the driver, they identified the man as 37-year-old Klawock resident John Charles IV. It was determined that Charles had been operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for DUI.
Because there were three other passengers in the vehicle at the time, Charles was also charged with three counts of Reckless Endangerment as well.
A check of the identities of the passengers in the vehicle would find that one of the individuals, 25-year-old Klawock resident Dennis Bezemer, was on conditions of release in three separate cases in Craig District Court. Bezemer had been released on the condition that he not consume alcohol. Troopers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Bezemer and confirmed that he wwas drinking prior to contact with the troopers.
Bezemer was also arrested and along with Charles, was transported to the Craig City Jail and remanded there. Bezemer’s bail was set at $1,500 on charges of Violating Conditions of Release.
Charles, after being booked for DUI and three counts of Reckless Endangerment, was released to appear in Craig District Court.
