(WASILLA, Alaska) – Alaska State Troopers are looking for help in identifying a suspect caught on a video surveillance camera taking gas cans from a yard at a Wasilla residence. Troopers believe the young man broke into one house nearby and walked through eight residential yards in a neighborhood off of Sheldon Road Monday afternoon.
The video surveillance from an East Melrose Court home shows him walking up to an outside door, finding it locked before he walks off with a couple of items he plucks from the yard. Troopers were originally called to the Brennas Way home at about 12:45 p.m. to a report that someone had broken a window to gain entry into a home.
This homeowner said the suspect walked around the home and moved stuff around, even knocked down the Christmas tree, but left empty handed.
Troopers then followed the suspect’s footprints through the neighborhood. Nothing else was reported stolen or broken into. Troopers believe he walked up to either the front or back door on some homes or stood at the end of the driveway at other residences. Anyone with information about the suspect can call Alaska State Troopers in 745-2131 or Mat-Su Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
