Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene of a head-on collision at mile 45.5 of the Parks Highway on Thursday night at 8:47 pm and closed down the highway for approximately a half an hour.
After their arrival, troopers conducted their investigation as all parties in both vehicles were transported to the Mat Su Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The investigation found that 34-year-old Aimee Castro was traveling northbound on the Parks Highway in a 1995 gray Honda Passport when she lost control of the vehicle and moved into the southbound lane directly into the path of a white 2009 Subaru Forester drivven by 29-year-old Jesse Ivie.
Ivie was unable to avoid the Passport and the two vehicles collided head-on.
Castro had three passengers in her vehicle at the time of the collision. Ivie had two passengers in his vehicle. All suffered minor injuries.
Castro was issued a citation for Failure to Exercise Due Care to Avoid a Collision.
