During the early morning hours of Tuesday, Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI call on a vehicle, shortly thereafter, troopers conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle and arrested the driver for DUI and weapons charges.
It was at 1:55 am on Tuesday morning that troopers pulled over 22-year-old Corey Powell of Wasilla after a call came in reporting him as a dangerous driver.
The trooper investigation found that Powell was driving his 1998 Toyota Tacoma while under the influence of alcohol. Powell was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI.
While being placed under arrest, troopers found Powell to be in possession of a loaded firearm on his person while being under the influence. Powell had also failed to notify troopers that he was in possession of a loaded firearm on his person when he was contacted by the troopers.
As a result, Powell was also charged with Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV and V.
Powell was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded with his bail set at $2,500.
