JUNEAU – Tomorrow, Representative Les Gara (D-Anchorage) will speak at the Native Issues Forum in Juneau on public education in Alaska.

Gara will address the importance of preventing a fourth year in a row of teacher and educator cuts, which would occur under the governor’s budget and education proposals. He will present what is needed to prevent these cuts and to rehire some of the 600 teachers and staff cut since 2011.

Tlingit Haida Central Council hosts the forums to hear from Alaska state legislators on political issues of interest to the Alaska Native community.
