The Alaska Department of Transportation is urging caution when driving along mile 239 in the Nenana River Canyon on the Parks Highway, they report debris from a rockslide.

Crews are actively cleaning up the area of the slide, and they warn of delays and possible “Pilot Cars” to guide travelers along that short stretch of highway where the slide occured.The slide is just north of the intersection to the Denali National Park Road.
DOT Spokeswoman Meadow Bailey reports rain in the area. The rain has saturated the slope causing unstable conditions. “It’s an ongoing problem that they’re dealing with,” she said. “They’re not closing the road, but there are delays.”
The State of Alaska 511 page cautions, “Be prepared to stop – Maintenance equipment on the roadway – Clearing in progress – Thank you for your patience.”
