Akiachak Man Assaults Family, Tribal Police in Village Incident

rural trooperIt was reported on Saturday, that an Akiackak man had assaulted to family members while drinking in that village. Tribal police from that community responded to the residence to investigate the incident, but were in turn assaulted by the suspect, identified as, 23-year-old Matthew Pasitnak.

Following that assault, tribal officers contacted the Alaska State troopers at 5:59 AM on Saturday morning. Troopers responded to the village to investigate. During the investigation, the trooper dispatch reports that Pasitnak “false claims in an attempt to implicate family members in the assault investigation.”

Pasitnak was arrested after the investigation and charged with Assault II, Assault IV x4, and False Report x2. He was transported to Bethel, where he was remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center and held without bail.
