Emmonak -based troopers were notified by Alakanuk police of a fatal ATV accident on Tuesday night at approximately 9:25 pm.

Alakanuk police told troopers that 21-year-old Cecila Chikigak died in an ATV crash on the roadway near the city office.

The trooper investigation found that Chikigak was driving at a high rate of speed at that location and left the roadway and impacted a metal shipping container. She was thrown from the vehicle and died on impact.

Chikigak’s next of kin were notified of the incident.

Chikigak’s remains were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
