September 29, 2016 ANCHORAGE – Governor Bill Walker ordered all Alaska flags be lowered in honor of former President and Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres, who passed away this week from a stroke. This order follows direction from the White House to lower all United States flags in honor of the former Israeli Prime Minister.
“Shimon Peres will be remembered as a strong leader and a driver for peace in the world,” said Governor Walker. “His legacy will continue to be revered throughout the globe, and will live on for generations to come.”
Per the President’s proclamation and Governor Walker’s order, all United States and Alaska flags should be flown at half-staff immediately and return to full-staff at sunset on Friday, September 30.
