Yesterday, Monday, October 15th, at 7:43 pm, Alaska State Troopers received notification of a gunshot victim at a remote cabin about 25 air miles east of Willow.
Palmer Troopers as well as a medevac flight conducted by the Rescue Coordination Center arrived at the scene. The victim was medevaced to an Anchorage hospital while troopers investigated the scene in an attempt to determine the circumstances of the shooting. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The troopers remained at the location through the night.

Early this morning, during a break in the weather, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation traveled to the scene via Helo-1 helicopter to continue the investigation and gather evidence.
The man was scheduled for autopsy today by the State Medical Examiners office in Acchorage. The preliminary results of that examination showed that the man suffered a single fatal gunshot wound. The identity of the man has not been released and will not be until confirmation of investigative details.
The troopers report that the circumstances that surround the incident do not pose a danger to the public.
The investigation into the incident is continueing.
