The trooper dispatch reported on Wednesday that the State Medical Examiner’s office will perform an autopsy on the Anchorage inmate who died and was pronounced at 3:46 pm on Tuesday, May 13th at an Anchorage hospital.
It was on May 5th that the Alaska Department of Corrections contacted the Alaska Bureau of Investigations to inform the bureau of the discovery of an unresponsive inmate at the Anchorage facility. The inmate, 24-year-old Mark Bolus, was discovered after hanging himself with his bedsheets. CPR was immediately performed on Bolus prior to being transported to the hospital.
Bolus, who was jailed on a probation violation, had asked to be placed in an isolation cell because of his fear of other inmates at the facility. It was in that cell that he was discovered by DOC personnel.
Next of kin for Bolus were present at the time of his death. Bolus resided in Eagle River according to his father.
