The Department of Justice announced on Friday that an Anchorage man was convicted of Attempted Sexual Trafficking of a Minor and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor on Thursday.
After a three-day trial in Anchorage, Danny Ray Lowe found guilty of two counts of Attempted Sexual Trafficking of a Minor and two counts of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The case had its beginnings in March when Lowe made contact with an undercover officer posing as a woman on a personal ad website said that her two young relatives had recently arrived in town an were “nymphos.” As the texts continued, the undercover officer told Lowe that the two girls were 13 and 14.
Lowe sporadically texted the officer throughout the summer attempting to set a time and place for an encounter. A September date was set at an Anchorage hotel. He was told to bring condoms, lubricant and $150 to the hotel for oral and vaginal sex.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
Lowe agreed and on September 12th, Lowe went to the hotel for a planned 2-hour session with the young girls. Instead, when Lowe arrived and knocked on the hotel room door, he was met by local and federal officers.
During questioning, Lowe waived his Miranda Rights and told investigators that he had wanted to have sex with the woman who wrote the text messages. But, when his cell phone was investigated, the texts that he sent did not support Lowe’s claim the FBI said.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]Lowe’s truck was seized and condoms, lubricant and $170 was found inside.
Lowe faces a penalty of not less than 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine as well as a lifetime of supervised release following his conviction in the case prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonas Walker.
