A fleeing suspect in Wasilla was apprehended, but only after crashing into a trooper patrol vehicle and taking officers on a high-speed chase through Wasilla.
Troopers responded to a disturbance report at 2:24 am on Tuesday morning, but upon their arrival at the scene, a male suspect, later identified as 23-year-olld Jacory Rias fled the scene. “As he was fleeing, he failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a patrol car of a responding Trooper,” the trooper dispatch reported.
The fleeing Rias continued for a further 1.3 miles, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour according to the report. During the chase, Rias’s vehicle left the roadway and Rias exited and attempted to further elude troopers on foot. He was quickly apprehended.
Troopers say that Rias was intoxicated and had assaulted two females, one of which was a family member, prompting the call to troopers.
Rias was transported to Palmer where he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrtial Facility and held without bail on charges of Fail to Stop for a Peace Officer I, DUI, and Assault IV x2.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
