The man crushed to dead in an Anchorage heavy equipment accident on Monday afternoon has been identified by Anchorage police as 57-year-old Thomas Heit.

It was early Monday afternoon that a report went in reporting that a piece of heavy equipment fell on top of Heit. No other information as to the unfortunate accident has been released by police. OSHA inspectors are investigating the cause of death in the incident.

Anchorage Police and medical personnel responded to the scene at 5360 Homer Drive in Midtown to Construction Machinery Industrial at approximately 1 pm. Heit was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
