It was on Thursday afternoon that the Alaska State Troopers received a tip that a visitor to the Palmer Correctional Center intended to smuggle contraband into the facility.
Troopers were informed of that 31-year-old Krystal Leighton of Anchorage was planning on bringing a controlled substance into the correctional facility. They received the information at 2:19 pm on Thursday.
It was at 6 pm, that Leighton went to the Correctional facility with four children. She was contacted by troopers as she was processing through the visitor center. The trooper investigation found that Leighton was bringing in a controlled substance as well as other contraband for an inmate.
Leighton was arrested on charges of Promoting Contraband I, Promoting Contraband II, Misconduct Invollving a Controlled Substance V, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI, and four counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Leighton was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there with a $1,000 c/c apearance bond and a $1,500 cash performance bond.
