Alaska State Troopers reported on Thursday that the Aniak man that they had been searching for was found deceased near Aniak.
Troopers have been searching for the whereabouts of Thomas “Tommy” Tom, age 57, since January 24th after the discovery of another deceased man at a residence in Aniak. Tom’s remains were discovered behind a tree in the woods near the CAT trail near that community at 12:37 pm on Thursday.
According to the trooper report Tom was not dressed for the weather, and it appeared that he had built a small fire in an attempt to keep warm. Troopers also report that Tom’s remains appear to have been undisturbed. According to the trooper dispatch, the location where Tom’s remains were located was not visible from the air or the trail.
The State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage requested Tom’s remains for autopsy, and his next of kin have been notified.
Troopers also report that the autopsy on the man found in Tom’s home has been completed and “The deceased person has been positively identified as Clarence Cutter Jr., 32 of Aniak. Cutter’s cause of death was determined to be the result of a gunshot wound to the head.”
The investigation into the deaths are continuing. [xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
