AST Releases Name of Man Killed in Fairbanks Trooper-Involved Shooting

Alaska State Troopers have released the name of the suspect who brandished a firearm and was ultimately shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting in a Fairbanks McDonalds parking lot, as 25-year-old Kevin Ray McEnulty.

The incident began at 8:40 pm when University of Alaska-Fairbanks police called in to report a shots-fired incident. By the time troopers responded to the scene, McEnulty had left the area in a vehicle.

A UAF police officer would locate the vehicle in the Geist Road McDonalds parking lot a short time later. When contacted McEnulty brandished a firearm and was fired upon by an Alaska State Trooper at 8:51 pm.

Although medics attempted to treat McEnulty, he succumbed to his gunshot wounds.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The Alaska Bureau of Investigations and Fairbanks GIU took over the investigation. “The name(s) of the Trooper(s) that fired their service weapon will be released approximately 72 hours from the time of the shooting incident,” AST stated.
