WASHINGTON, DC – The United States Senate recessed for the week today, with little in the way of progress being made towards an agreement on a sustainable financial path for the country’s future. Alaska’s Senior Senator Lisa Murkowski gave the following reaction:

FAIRBANKS-After three days of searching, the Department of Public Safety is suspending its search for Patrick Hunsberger, age 25 of Fairbanks. Informal search efforts will continue. Alaska Wildlife Troopers will conduct periodical searches over the lake as well.
SAN FRANCISCO-The three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ordered the U.S. Government to immediately cease enforcing the ban on openly gay personnel in the military. This ends the 17 year old policy of discharging members of the military based on their sexual orientation.
