Fishing Vessel Legend Grounds, Burns South of Ketchikan
JUNEAU, Alaska – The Coast Guard responded to the grounding and a subsequent fire aboard the 58-foot fishing vessel Legend at Bostwick Point about eight miles south of Ketchikan Monday.
Two Planes Collide Mid-Air, Return Safely
ALASKA-Two small planes collided mid-air over Lake Clark Pass at 2,300 feet on Sunday afternoon, but were able to land safely in Anchorage after the incident. Neither pilot saw the other until the impact was imminent. No one was injured in the accident.
Coast Guard Vessel Long Island Comes to the Aid of Multiple Vessels Southwest of Valdez
KODIAK, Alaska – The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Long Island assisted three vessels 80 miles southwest of Valdez Friday evening.
Shuttle Program Comes to a Close with Atlantis Launch
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER-The 135th and final mission of the space shuttle program launched from its pad just prior to 11:30am this morning. The flight of Atlantis to the International Space Station marks the end of the 30 year program.
