JUNEAU, Alaska — The Coast Guard is encouraging fishermen to get their commercial fishing vessel safety exams in advance of the upcoming halibut and sablefish fisheries in Alaska.

ANN ARBOR—A common test used to determine mercury exposure from dental amalgam fillings may significantly overestimate the amount of the toxic metal released from fillings, according to University of Michigan researchers.

North Korea calls 'Foal Eagle' B-52 Training Mission 'Unpardonable Provocations'

A North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman, on Wednesday, promised "strong military counteraction" after the U.S. carried out it second fly-over of its nuclear payload capable B-52 on Tuesday during a training mission in the "Foal Eagle" joint training operations in South Korea.

Anniversary of the War in Iraq Comes and Goes without Much Fanfare or Mention

President Obama and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel released statements honoring the sacrifices of U.S. servicemen, their families and the Iraqi people on Tuesday, the 10th anniversary of the the start of the war in Iraq. The rest of Washington is quiet.
