(SITKA, Alaska) – Eighteen new law enforcement officers from five different state and municipal agencies graduated from the Department of Public Safety Training Academy in Sitka Friday. A graduation ceremony at the Sheet'Ka Kwaan Na'Kaa Hidi Building in Sitka ended the Alaska Law Enforcement Training (ALET) Session No. 12-02.

Spokane Police Officer Sentenced in Connection with In-custody Death of Otto Zehm

A federal judge sentenced Spokane, Wash., Police Officer Karl F. Thompson Jr. to 51 months in prison followed by three years supervised release for civil rights and obstruction violations stemming from his March 18, 2006, beating of an unarmed citizen and an extensive cover-up that followed, the Justice Department announced today.
